Foros

Resort village Foros is on the west of Bid Yalta. On the place of Foros was Greek colony and later it was one of the base point of Genoese.

In 1889 owner of these places A. Kuznetsov built a castle which is now one of the buildings of sanatorium “Foros”. Local Park is beautiful. Its peculiarity is wide use of local drought-resistant species of wood. It is a basis of wooden park. Together with exotic plants, imported one it let to make unexpected effective additions, such as “Paradise place” with ponds, rare threes and whole wood of Aleppo grass pines, cypress, cedar of Lebanon, olives.

Special picturesque of the shore is made by small bays, bunching of stones and cliffs.

Over Foros, on the lonely sheer cliff is a church Ascension of Christ. Church is built by A. Kuznetsov in 1892 according to the project of architect-academician N.M. Chagin. Mosaic was made by famous Italian workshop Antonio Salviaty, interior is painted by K.E. Makovskiy, A.I. Korzuhin, N.E. Sverchkov.
