Evpatoriya

Situated on the sea shore of sallow water Kalamitsliy creek, Evpatoriya became wide popularity as climate, mud and balneological Crimean resort. If we look at the Evpatoriya from the height of bird flight, then we will see that town is surrounded by water from three sides. South border is coast of Kalamitsliy creek framed by the line of “velvet” beach. From the east is a biggest lake in Crimea, Sisak-Sivash, from the west – famous Moiynakskoe Lake.

In Evpatoriya region there are salty lakes, the most popular of them is Moiynakskoe. The depth of the lake, which serves for medical swimming, is not mote than 3 feet; leach is warming-up to 30 °С. There is medical silt on the floor of the lake.

Evpatoriya is the only one resort in the region where with medical purpose use al nature wealth of Crimea: sea, climate, dry hot sand, medical mud and leach of salty lakes, mineral waters. Nature does not scrip giving to Evpatoriya magic features of treating illnesses of people. It is rare combination of sea and prairie climate. Climate of Evpatoriya is dryer than on the South Coast of Crimea. Here you can breathe easy even in the hottest days.

At the turn of VI-V B.C. on the place of modern Evpatoriya was Greek town Kerkinitida. However, Greeks were not the first settlement on the north-west coast of Crimea. Archeological researches show that before Greeks here were Cimmerian, Taurus, Scythians. In XIII century in Crimea were rushed the Tartars-Mongolian invasion. And at the end of XV century Turks and Tartars restored on the place of Kerkinitida town-fortress, named it Gezlev. After joining Crimea to Russia the town was renamed into Evpatoriya. In 70-s XIX century Evpatoriya had the fame of the best place in Crimea for sea swimming.
